What we do
Access to quality medical care is limited in Armenia.
Although the number of hospitals and practicing doctors in the capital of Yerevan surpasses the number in major Western cities, the Armenian healthcare system remains unequal, with a striking difference between the capital and the provinces.
The absence of social security coverage for all creates financial obstacles and amplifies the inequality of care, which is compounded by the lack of certain pieces of modern equipment and medications.
The training of healthcare professionals in Armenia is insufficient, resulting in low-quality diagnosis and care. This naturally leads to a lack of public confidence.
To contribute to the development of the Armenian healthcare system and in light of the needs observed in the field, Santé Arménie is deploying a number of projects in four key areas:
- Providing healthcare and reinforcing the country’s healthcare infrastructure to bring free healthcare to populations with limited access to such
- Training and knowledge transfer to enable Armenian healthcare professionals to have access to French medical expertise
- Research and development to stimulate scientific medical research in Armenia
- Partnerships with local institutions to contribute to far-reaching changes in healthcare policies to better meet the population’s needs
Santé Arménie employs and trains Armenian professionals who implement these activities under the direct supervision of the association’s volunteer members.
